Coatings and varnishes can provide functional properties that are crucial for the performance and durability of packaging. They also play a key role in realizing a Circular Economy, for example by enabling the switch from multi- to mono-material packaging.They not only help to replace extra material layers, and thereby reduce packaging complexity, but also to equip renewable materials like paper with functional properties needed to replace other packaging material (so called paperization), and thereby enable theiruse for a wider range of packaging applications.
